Shane MacGowan Bootlegs 1992 - 1993

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (with Shane MacGowan)
01-Sep-92
The Town And Country Club, London, England
5 min.

What A Wonderful World

I'm not sure what the full setlist of the show is, but Shane sings What A Wonderful World with Nick Cave. A full bootleg of this show exists. A TV clip of "What A Wonderful World" also circulates on video (see Videos).

Shane MacGowan & The Rogues
16-Sep-92
Bang-On!, New York City, New York, USA
37 min.

White City / Boys From The County Hell / Down All The Days / Lullaby Of London / Waxie's Dargle / Bottle Of Smoke / The Rising Of The Moon / Greenland Whale Fisheries / Kitty / If I Should Fall From Grace With God / The Irish Rover

Shane played four shows with The Rogues (a New York band) in 1992, but it seems that this is the only show that was recorded. The vocals are barely audible, and the bass is very heavy. I have heard the acoustics at Bang On! were quite bad. This recording was probably made from the back, away from the speakers and stage. Therefore, the bass was picked up but not Shane's voice.

Shane MacGowan & Nick Cave
12-Nov-92
TV - Later With Jools Holland
10 min.

Lucy (Shane vocals) / A Rainy Night In Soho (Nick Cave vocals) / What A Wonderful World (Shane and Nick vocals)

Also circulates on video (see Videos). At one point Jools calls Nick and Shane "crooners." This didn't make Nick happy.

The Dubliners
13-Feb-93
The Grand, Clapham, London, England
70 min.

with Shane MacGowan and Spider Stacy

Instrumental / MacAlpine's Fusiliers / I'll Tell Me Ma / Banks Of The Roses / Rose Of Allendale / Instrumental / Nora / The Stone Outside Dan Murphy's Door / The Pod Song / The Manchester Rambler / Jigs / ??? / Spanish Lady / Ballad Of St. Anne's Reel / Jock Stewart (cut off) / Liverpool Lou (beginning missing) / The Rare Ould Mountain Dew / Whiskey In The Jar (with Shane MacGowan) / The Irish Rover (with Shane MacGowan)

The last two songs are with Shane and Spider. This is an extremely poor recording.

From this point on, all Shane MacGowan bootlegs are, unless otherwise stated, by Shane MacGowan & The Popes.

04-Jul-93
Fleadh Mor, Tramore, Waterford, Ireland
45 min.
The first Shane & The Popes gig
with Siobhan MacGowan

Sally MacLennane / Old Time Religion / Snake With Eyes Of Garnet / Nancy Whiskey / Dirty Old Town / Greenland Whale Fisheries / Her Father Didn't Like Me Anyway / The Streets Of Baltimore / That Woman's Got Me Drinking / The Irish Rover / Fairytale Of New York (with Siobhan MacGowan)

Also circulates on video (see Videos). "Old Time Religion" is the precursor to "The Church Of The Holy Spook."

50 min.
with Kirsty MacColl

Streams Of Whiskey / Snake With Eyes Of Garnet / Old Time Religion / Nancy Whiskey / The Streets Of Baltimore / Her Father Didn't Like Me Anyway / That Woman's Got Me Drinking / If I Should Fall From Grace With God / Sally MacLennane / The Irish Rover / Dirty Old Town / Fairytale Of New York (with Kirsty MacColl)
